Jaime Kate grew up just outside of Melbourne surrounded by luscious rainforest. From an early age she had a love of working with her hands and crafternoons were something she shared with the whole family. After studying visual arts and graphic design at high school, Jaime spent the next 10 years pursuing her many passions including a successful career as a pastry chef. After many afternoons spent baking sweet treats, she was keen to get back to designing and making something that was going to last a little longer than cake.

While studying her BA Textile Design at RMIT, Jaime discovered her love of constructed textiles and mixed media and now works across a variety of platforms including weaving, embroidery, illustration and printing. She enjoys the slow, detailed process of traditional techniques. Her bold use of colour and texture has become a trademark, as has the optimistic and playful nature of her designs.

Jaime has worked on numerous industry briefs for commercial companies including Country Road, Maxwell and Williams, Linen House and Pattern Source. As a result, she won a place as a finalist in two of the briefs and her work has been sold both locally and internationally.

When she is not working, Jaime likes to spend her time cooking for friends, exploring, writing, laughing and riding her bike Ernie.
