As a textile designer I am attracted to the colours and patterns of everyday life. Forming an intimate connection with each brief allows me to emotionally invest in the project so I can apply my own distinct style and vision to the work.
I am constantly surprising myself by what I am motivated by, from nature to art, to architecture, once I have an idea I become immersed. Ultimately it takes my work on an interesting – if chaotic – journey to the end. I generate ideas through my hands. Weaving is my foundation, it provides a structure to my ideas. Layering is a chaotic mess. It’s where these intersect that my work takes its form.
Textile design is my chosen creative outlet. It is a way to combine my love for illustration, constructed fabrics and technology. As my experiences broaden I hope to continue exploring new concepts and materials.
