As a textile designer my commitment is to the ‘slow movement’, the thoughtful creation of quality fabrics and products.
Inspiration is gleaned from the city landscape, surface textures and reflections. The shifting patterns of light create an ever changing world of interest. I am fascinated with the seasons, the naked branches of winter, fresh foliage and blossoms in spring, deep autumn tones and the singed edges of summer.
Photography is the starting point, searching out the quirky corners and colours of the city. These images lead to textures, motifs and colour references that translate into woven and embroidered textiles.
I believe my future prospects are promising as my intention is to run my own small business as a designer maker. My aim is to design and produce textiles of excellence that can be used to create bespoke premium garments.
